Enjoying Miami

Welcome to Miami
Yes, we were welcomed to Miami. Starting off, we took the one and only
American Arilines who brought us with a stopover in Heathrow (no loss
of luggage though, yay) to Miami. After long and tiring travel day, we
went to the hotel for a needed shower after that we immediately checked
the beach. Knowing that at home, snow was on its way, we were not really
borthered by the few clouds at the sky (24 degrees, by the way).
Walking down the beach towards the famous Ocean Drive (with all its
beautiful Art Deco Hotels) a bumpering base line got more and more
obvious...out of curiousity we continued down the beach to find a big,
colourful, loud, glittering, electronic festival at the ocean front.
Only at the second look we discovered, that there were an obvious
overload of men in short (and I mean very short) pants and the women
mostly had a male touch as well. The rainbow flags all around explained
the rest :-). Even the police car was decorated in rainbow colours.
Day two started with homemade breakfast as the Hotel offered a fridge and
some cooking facilities en suite...so Karinka was magicly creating
some beautiful scrambled eggs. After that, nothing could hold us back
going to the beach. Only lying down on the sand, sleeping a bit and listening
to the ocean was soo relaxing that the switch to normal day to day
business of the last working years was very easy :-).
Only having the hand on my belly while sleeping is not the best idea,
considering that my white body got some tan...all around my hand :-).
The afternoon, we then headed to Miami Downtown (our Hotel was at South Beach)
to make a boat tour to see all the celebrity houses and to get around
in the area...impressive harbour, impressive houses and some dolphins
which were swimming with our boat.
The next day, we met Fabi, Daniela, Sabine as well as Sebastian who were
on their way down from Orlando to the Keys...of course with stopover in
Miami. At that day, the Heat was on...literally, as we went to see the
Miami Heat playing against the Atlanta Hawks in the American Airlines
Arena in the evening. Great show, great game as well as great entertainment.
Next day, after a great breakfast at the Van Dyke Cafe on Lincoln Ave,
we headed to Little Havanna. As the southern part of Florida hosts one of
the largest communities of Latin Americas, this quarter represents
a more or less authentic area. Besides an accident we witnessed, not
too much going on though ;-). The evening we went to Ocean Drive,
after having dinner at a brillant Cuban Restaurant on South Beach.
Ocean Drive is all about showing off...the expensive, nice cars,
laaaarge rims, loud music and many many people made it exciting.
On thursday then, it was time to say good bye...Fabi, Daniela, Sabine
and Sebastian headed down towards Key West, whilst Karina and I had
our flight to Buenos Aires....where a new chapter is about to begin...
